YouTube Monetization Rules & Requirements in India: Kitne Subscribers Pe Paise Milte Hain?
YouTube has two Partner Program levels: an expanded level (500 subscribers plus uploads and watch time or Shorts views) for fan funding, and the full level (1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 watch hours or 10 million Shorts views) for ad revenue. Check YouTube Studio for your live progress.
- Expanded YPP: 500 subscribers, 3 uploads in 90 days and 3,000 watch hours (12 months) or 3M Shorts views (90 days).
- Full YPP (ads): 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours or 10M Shorts views.
- Sponsors, affiliate links and your own products do not need YPP.

How to apply

- Follow YouTube's monetization policies and community guidelines, with no active strikes.
- Turn on 2-step verification for your Google account.
- Go to YouTube Studio → Earn and apply when you are eligible.
- Connect or create an AdSense account – one per person, with your name and address as per your bank and ID.
- Wait for the review – often around a month, sometimes longer.
- If rejected, fix the issue (often reused content) and re-apply after the waiting period shown.
Reused content – compilations, re-uploads or videos without your own original value. Faceless channels are fine if the scripts, voice and editing are your own work.
Earn before (and beyond) monetization
- Sponsorships from brands in your niche
- Affiliate links for products you genuinely use
- Your own products or services – courses, eBooks, consulting
- Fan funding once you reach the expanded level

How to reach the requirements faster
Pick one niche, one audience and one language. Write 20 video ideas before you start, upload on a schedule you can keep, and study your Analytics weekly: a low click-through rate means the title or thumbnail needs work; low retention means the first 30 seconds need work.

- Earnings collect in AdSense and are paid monthly once you cross the payment threshold.
- Add your bank account and complete address verification if asked.
- Submit your tax information in AdSense; talk to a CA about Indian income tax on your earnings.
